The Dāna booking process involves 3 simple steps
The First step is selecting an Āranya Sēnāsanaya from the given list according to your requirements.
The Second step is choosing a date in the calendar of the selected Āranya Sēnāsanaya.
The Third step is transferring your money to the Āranya Sēnāsanaya account number.
When you click on your desired date, the donor information form will be populated. Next, fill in the required information. You need to verify your email address before you submit the form. For email verification, enter your email and click the “get code” tab. Then you will receive a code in your given email. Enter that code in the given space and click the “verify” tab. After that, you can read the privacy policy and terms and conditions. Then, tick the relevant box to indicate that you agree with the privacy policy and terms and conditions. Finally submit the form. `
If you want to offer Dāna in person at the Āranya Sēnāsanaya, you need to tick the relevant box in the form. For this, you need to verify a Sri Lankan mobile phone number. You will get a code as a text message on your phone when you enter and submit your Sri Lankan mobile number. Verify your phone number using this code and then you can submit that form as explained above.
The selected Āranya Sēnāsanaya will check the availability of the date and will advise the donor via email. If the requested date is available, you will get the letter of tentative booking. In this letter bank details of the Āranya Sēnāsanaya, telephone numbers of two contact persons, a link to provide bank transfer details and information for blessings (Punyanumodana) will be provided.
Please transfer money and send the completed forms within 5 days of receiving the email with the tentative booking. When Āranya Sēnāsanaya, confirms the receipt of money, the donor will receive an email confirming the date. Your Dāna will be prepared and offered by someone in the Āranya Sēnāsanaya or a devotee living closer to the Āranya Sēnāsanaya.
If the bank transfer information form is not submitted within 7 days of the date of the email the temporary date reservation will be cancelled automatically.
After the offering of Dāna, the donor will get a blessing (Punyanumodanawa) in the form of a video recording, audio recording and a few photos or a letter, depending on the facilities available in the Āranya Sēnāsanaya. These files will be downloadable and will be automatically deleted after 30 days.
If you offer Dāna in person, you need to go to the Āranya Sēnāsanaya on the date or the previous date depending on your situation. Please discuss this with the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya.
The website only collects a minimum level of personal information. Those are the full name, email address and contact number of the donor. The information is used only for communication purposes. In addition, a minimum level of Bank details will be requested to identify the money transfer. Guest user information will not be retained. This personal information will not be shared with any party including the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya. Only your first name is revealed to the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya. Also, this information will not use for any marketing purposes.
Only those Āranya Sēnāsana registered with the Ministry of Buddhism in Sri Lanka will be made available via this website.
The website will not provide the cost estimates for Dāna offerings. It is unlikely that Āranya Sēnāsana will provide such estimates even if contacted directly. However, we do understand that donors, particularly those who live abroad may find difficulty in estimating the cost due to rapidly changing food prices in Sri Lanka. The number of monks residing in the Āranya Sēnāsanaya will be informed in the letter of tentative reservation. Please do understand that there could be unavoidable discrepancies in the number of monks as Āranya Sēnāsana are mostly isolated and unexpected movements of monks can happen. Dāna on a Full Moon Poya day adds an additional cost. Please contact relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya directly before making the cost estimates.
Some Āranya Sēnāsana may be able to facilitate Zoom sessions, so donors can join the Dāna event remotely. Please visit Āranya Sēnāsana’s page to see if they facilitate Zoom sessions.
This website facilitates full-day meals only, due to the usual procedures taking place in Āranya Sēnāsana. However, those who wish to offer breakfast only should contact Āranya Sēnāsana directly to book a date.
Dāna booking process could experience delays at Āranya Sēnāsana’s end when actioning booking requests as well as at the donors’ end when transferring funds. Considering those factors, the average processing time of a booking request has been calculated as 15 days. Therefore, a rule has been applied to make those dates that do not allow adequate process time unavailable for selection.
When a Dāna is reserved for a donor, Āranya Sēnāsanaya does not give it to another donor online or locally. Therefore, we need to make sure they do not miss any Dāna due to any reason. Therefore, the website is set to cancel Dāna automatically if you do not transfer money in time.
There are no restrictions currently on the number of Dānas a donor can request at a time. However, a date will not be reserved until Āranya Sēnāsanaya confirms that it has received funds for Dāna.
The website does not offer a donor to have a particular date reserved monthly or yearly as a recurring Dāna. However, there are no restrictions for manually booking a date at regular intervals.
It has been estimated that a temporary Dāna confirmation could take up to 7 days on average due to the steps involved in the process and the delays that could occur from both Āranya Sēnāsana and the donor’s end. If there is an extensive delay at a particular stage of the booking process, site admins will involve and make their best efforts to speed up the process and keep both parties informed.
Yes. If you require additional information, you may contact Āranya Sēnāsana directly using the contact numbers given in the letter of temporary confirmation. When you do contact Āranya Sēnāsana, we request you to speak in Sinhala and contact them during the hours noted on the page. Please make your enquiries as brief as possible. You may quote the date of your Dana because it will be useful to help you.
The Danaparamitha web is not integrated with a payment gateway to facilitate money transferring for Dāna. Therefore, the donors will have to find such money transfer facilities from elsewhere.
The website requests the donor to provide certain details of their money transfer for a Dāna to help Āranya Sēnāsana to trace the transaction before they can confirm the receipt of money and lock the Dāna date.
The Āranya Sēnāsanaya will send an email with the Punyanumodanawa to the donor after the Dāna is completed. This will include a link to access and download some media files pertaining to the Dāna event. In the event of an excessive delay, the Danaparamitha admin team will follow up with Āranya Sēnāsanaya.
Yes, there is a place to write your preference if you wish. Usually, Āranya Sēnāsana’s Dāna is a vegetarian meal. Donors are encouraged to contact Āranya Sēnāsana if they wish to discuss the items included in their Dāna or have specific requirements. Donors should understand that due to the lack of resources, Āranya Sēnāsaya may not be able to attend to certain requirements or requests although they are deemed reasonable or essential.
Danaparamitha.com web only provides bank accounts registered under the name of Āranya Sēnāsana for money transfers and not personal accounts. The donors are encouraged not to transfer funds to accounts other than what is provided by the Danaparamitha web during the Dāna booking process.
Āranya Sēnāsana may be able to organize “Pirikara” for a Dana. Donors can write about “Pirikara” at the place allocated for that. Donors can contact the relevant Aranya directly to organize such combined offerings of items or any other offerings.
Danaparamitha web will not provide itemized costing of a Dāna. Donors may request that directly from Āranya Sēnāsana if needed. Please let them know your requirement at the beginning.
Danaparamitha admins will put best efforts to keep the information current as much as possible. As a part of this effort, Āranya Sēnāsana are given access to update certain information on their individual pages which has the potential to change regularly. The time stamps will be shown next to such information and on relevant pages. Therefore, the visitors and donors can get to know how current the information is.
The number of monks available at an Āranya Sēnāsanaya is likely to change often. Āranya Sēnāsanaya will put their best efforts to update it on their page available on Danaparamitha web with a time stamp. In addition to monks, there can be visitors, lay devotees, and helpers present at an Āranya Sēnāsanaya on a Dāna day. In addition, you will be informed of the number of monks available for your Dāna in the temporary confirmation letter you receive when you book a Dāna. If the Dāna date falls on a poya day, we highly recommend donors contact the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya directly and confirm the numbers.
If you wish to prepare Dāna at an Āranya Sēnāsanaya, you need to find whether the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya has cooking facilities at their venue, by visiting their page on the Danaparamitha web. Please note that all Āranya Sēnāsana may not have such facilities. Please ensure that you select the check box in the Dāna booking form if you intend to participate in person in the Āranya Sēnāsanaya on the selected date. This will take you through the appropriate workflow. Also, plan your visit in advance to ensure that you have adequate time for Dāna preparation. In such situations, Āranya Sēnāsanaya will not email blessings (Punyanumodanawa).
If it is deemed convenient and no logistical issues could arise, donors may prepare Dāna at home and take it to the Āranya Sēnāsanaya. Please ensure that you select the check box in the Dāna booking form if you intend to prepare Dāna at home. This will take you through the appropriate workflow. Also, plan your visit in advance to ensure that you attend in time for Buddha Poojawa and Dāna activities. Please contact the Āranya Sēnāsanaya in advance and inform them that you prepare Dāna at home and bring it to the Āranya Sēnāsanaya on the date you selected.
Once the money transfer information letter has been submitted, Āranya Sēnāsanaya will confirm the receipt of funds. The system will send a notification to advise you of this.
You can send us a request through our contact us form with your name and contact details, preferred date and which Aranya Senasana you want to offer the Dāna. We will communicate with the relevant Āranya Sēnāsanaya and help to get the date you need if the date is available.
We have informed Āranya Sēnāsanaya that if there is excess money after offering a Dāna, that excess money should be used only for Dāna on another date. However, Āranya Sēnāsanaya can discuss with the donor and decide whether they can use that money for another purpose.

No, only Āranya Sēnāsanas registered with the Ministry of Buddhist affairs in Sri Lanka can join the website. The final decision is at the danaparamitha.com management committee’s discretion.
